Viking River Cruises Travel Protection Insurance Plan

Sometimes an emergency at home or sickness may cause you to have to cancel your cruise vacation. There is always the chance that you might lose your personal belongings or become ill while traveling. Of course, we hope this doesn’t happen to you--such incidents can be emotionally taxing and financially costly.  For that reason, Viking River cruises suggests a travel protection plan offered and administered by Trip Mate Insurance Agency, Inc., which is available with all Viking River Cruises arrangements.

This travel protection plan covers your vacation investment, your belongings, and most importantly, you. This plan covers you even if you must cancel or interrupt your trip due to a pre-existing medical condition if you purchase the plan no later than seven days after your initial deposit/payment for your trip and are not disabled from travel at the time you pay your premium.

Schedule of Coverages Maximum Benefit Amount
Pre-Departure Trip Cancellation Up To Trip Cost
Post-Departure Trip Interruption Up To Trip Cost
Accidental Death & Dismemberment $25,000
Medical Expense/Emergency Assistance $25,000
Trip Delay (maximum of $100 per day) $500
Baggage/Travel Documents $1,000
Baggage Delay $100

Trip Cost (per person) Travel Protection Price (per person)
$0 to $2,000 $199
$2001 and up $299

A “Description of Coverage” brochure which provides complete details of the plan, including conditions, exclusions and limitations will be included in your travel documents and is also available to you, upon request, at any time prior to the purchase of your plan.

CONDITIONS AND LIMITATIONS: Certain exclusions and limitations apply and are detailed in the Description of Coverage Brochure. For example, coverage does not apply to: any sickness or condition of you, a Traveling Companion or an Immediate Family Member traveling with you that existed during the 90 days prior to the effective date of the coverages (this exclusion is waived if you purchase coverage no later than seven days after you make your initial deposit/ payment for your trip and you are not disabled from travel when you make your plan payment), suicide, normal pregnancy, war or any act of war, mental or nervous disorders. Other Covered Events, as defined, include the following events or their consequences: cancellation of arrangements with an airline due to strike or bad weather; a documented traffic accident while en route to departure; jury duty; destruction of your residence by a natural disaster; or documented theft of passports or visas. A Traveling Companion is defined as a person booked to share accommodations in the same cabin as you during your cruise.  Sickness or injury must require the care of a Physician and must commence while the Travel Protection Plan is in force for you.  This plan does not cover a loss that results from an illness, disease, or other condition (of you, an Immediate Family Member, Traveling Companion or Business Partner), event or circumstance which occurs at a time when this policy is not in force for you.  This plan is underwritten by:  Monumental General Casualty Company (all states except as otherwise noted) & Monumental Life Insurance Company (AK, ME, MA, NH, NJ, NC, WA, WI, WY) & Stonebridge Casualty Insurance Company (CO, MI, MN, NY, VT).  All Inquires & Claims should be reported to the Plan Administrator: Trip Mate Insurance Agency, Inc. 9225 Ward Parkway, 2nd Floor, Kansas City, MO 64114, 800-888-7292.

This is not a complete description of all benefits and limitations. For full terms and conditions of coverage, ask your Vacations To Go cruise counselor. Prices, terms, and conditions listed in this summary are subject to change without notice, and need to be reconfirmed with your Vacations To Go cruise counselor at the time of booking.

If you book a Viking River Cruises cruise, you can purchase insurance from Viking River Cruises (Travel Protection Insurance Plan) or from the independent insurance provider, CSA. Click here to see details of the CSA Vacation Guarantee.
