Al Hudaydah, Yemen

Al Hudaydah, also Hodeida, is located in western Yemen, on the Red Sea. One of the principal seaports of the country, it is situated southwest of Sana'a (Sanaa), the country's capital. The city was largely rebuilt after a fire in 1961, and its port facilities were improved and enlarged. Many beautiful examples of old-style housing can still be found in Al Hudaydah. Visit the fish market alongside the Red Sea and view the wooden boats that are still used by local fishermen.
