The 340-acre Gamboa Tropical Rainforest Resort is located on the banks of the historic Chagres River near where it intersects the Panama Canal and adjacent to the scenic town of Gamboa and surrounded by the Soberania National Park. This area of the Panama Canal has been protected for many decades and has large tracts of old-growth tropical rain forest with intact animal populations. The area of Gamboa and the hydrographic basin of the Panama Canal contain one of the hemisphere's most important biological reserves and is less than one hour away from modern Panama City, the main urban center and commercial heart of the country.
