Sitting on the banks of the Illinois River is Havana, named after the Cuban capital. Fishing and birdwatching are two of the more popular activities of the area. Visit the Chatauqua National Wildlife Refuge or the Sand Ridge State Forest and Jake Wolf Memorial Hatchery. Other areas of interest include the Dickson Mounds Museum, an Indian burial ground, and New Salem State Park, which Abe Lincoln called home for several years.
