The small island of Isla Mocha was once a stronghold for both Dutch and English buccaneers. Nearly devastated by the great Chilean earthquake of 1960, today Isla Mocha's interior is a lush temperate rain forest of fuschias, large arrayans and southern beech trees. This rich virgin forest offers the ideal habitat for birds like pidenes, torcazas, bandurrias and Castilian fardelas.
