Located on the Sea of Aki in the eastern part of Yamaguchi Prefecture, Iwakuni is a town rich in feudal history and cultural celebration. It is a common extension to a trip for overseas travelers coming to Japan to visit Hiroshima and Miyajima. In addition to its history, Iwakuni is best known for its unique structures like the Kintai-kyo Bridge. The bridge was made completely of wood with no nails and five bold arches that connect to large stone pillars stretched across the NIshiki River. Other popular attractions are Iwakuni Castle, Kikko Park, and the Imazu White Snakes Museum.
