Kadavu Group, Fiji

The lushly forested Kadavu Group is home to approximately 8,000 people who maintain a very traditional Fijian lifestyle. The rain forest supports a wide variety of bird species, including the native Kadavu honeyeater, Kadavu fantail, and the velvet fruit dove. The island’s rugged, unspoiled forests are perfect for hiking, bird-watching and other natural pursuits. Offshore, a great reef supports brilliant soft and hard corals and a polychromatic array of marine life. Steep drop-offs make for spectacular snorkeling and diving.
