Lae is located on the eastern coast of Papua New Guinea and is the second largest city in Papua New Guinea. It is also known as the Garden City. Lae is the home of University of Technology, the only technological university in the South Pacific outside Australia and New Zealand. There are many attractions that bring visitors to Lea all year round. The Lae Botanic Gardens is filled with beautiful trees and other foliage, and inside the Botanic Gardens lies the Papua New Guinea National Herbarium and the Lae War Cemetery. Perhaps the most striking natural phenomenon in Lae is Mount Lunamen. Mount Lunamen has been heavily studied for its tectonic properties and has strong historical significance from World War II.
