Loh Island, Vanuatu

The Torres Islands were among the last South Pacific islands to be charted. Far flung from the rest of Vanuatu, they have a distinct culture with many Solomon Island influences. Succulent coconut crab forms a regular part of the staple diet on Loh, as the crabs are particularly prevalent here. The island is also home to unusual megapode birds, whose brooding behavior resembles that of reptiles. You may also spot flying foxes in the tiny village of about 120 people.
