Malacca, Southeast Asia's oldest trading center, has been a colony of the Chinese, Portuguese, British and French and remnants of all of these cultures still exist today. Visit Dutch Square with its vivid red buildings, St. Peter's Church and the oldest Christian church still in use in Malaysia. Or tour the Porta de Santiago, which is at the foot of the ruins of a 16th-century Portuguese fortress, and the nearby 17th-century Chinese cemetery, known as Bukit China.
