First known as Limestone, the town was incorporated in 1792 and rapidly became one of the largest burley tobacco markets in the world. Take the Tobacco and Slavery tour, beginning at Old Washington, a pioneer village, continuing on to the Ohio Tobacco Museum, and finally, the town of Ripley, where many town fathers were activists in the Underground Railroad.
