Stretching over 180 miles to the southeast from Chuuk Lagoon, the Mortlocks were the first islands in the region to be settled by Christian missionaries. The inhabitants of these islands still carve traditional masks of hibiscus wood, once worn by men to ward off spirits during battle. These friendly people will greet you as you arrive on their palm-fringed beaches.
