Positano, Italy

For discounted cruises that visit this port, click .

Visitors to Positano, known as the “Pearl of the Amalfi Coast,” are greeted with the fragrance of the many orange and lemon groves located on the outskirts of the city. Positano dates back to the tenth century AD, and was once an important seaport for Middle Eastern trade. Today, it hosts the annual Cartoons on the Bay Festival, where the Pulcinella Awards for Excellence in Animation are presented. The city has much to offer, including beautiful beaches, mountain walks along the Path of the Gods, and is only a short trip away from the world-famous Emerald Grotto, a green-watered cavern accessible only by boat. The city is also home to the Church of Santa Maria Assunta, with it’s dome of majolica tiles and a thirteenth century Byzantine icon of a black Madonna. Enjoy a view of the sunset at one of the many local restaurants. The daily supply of fresh fish by the local fishermen have made Positano one of the most famous locales for fine food on the coast.
