Salinas is a tiny Indian village located in a valley between the two parallel mountain ranges of Ecuador, containing some of the country's wildest scenery and nine of its 10 highest peaks. Quite isolated from commercialization, little here appears to have changed over the centuries. Salinas is known for its homemade dairy products, salamis, woolen handicrafts and peaceable way of life.
