Covered in white sand beaches and natural hot springs, Trujillo is the oldest port in Honduras. Tour the Santa Barbara Fort to see excellent views of Trujillo Bay, then visit the statue of Christopher Columbus at the Municipal Lookout Point. Take a snorkeling tour around the coral reefs at Cayo Blanco to explore the sunken ships, or head out to the Banco de Estrellas Marinas to see the various starfish that call the sandbar home. In addition to the beautiful beaches, Trujillo also offers several options for a day hike that start from town and lead to places like La Cascada Rio Negro waterfall or the local wildlife refuge and mangrove lagoon. Visitors will also encounter local cultures like that of the Garifuna, who are well known for their unique dances, foods, and traditions, during their stay.
