Vaipaee, Marquesas Islands

Vaipaee is located on the smallest of the inhabited islands in the northern Marquesas, the crescent-shaped island of Ua Huka. Vaipaee also houses some of the oldest ruins in the Marquesas and the shops sell local crafts of excellent quality. Visitors can view artifacts in the Museum of Vaipaee and Arboretum (the only arboretum in French Polynesia) or enjoy watching the wildlife, including hundreds of stallions that run freely on the island.
