Cruise Line Fuel SurchargesAzamara Cruises has suspended their fuel supplement for all sailings. Guests already booked on sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, will receive a refund of any fuel supplement paid, as follows: Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, and who are now paid in full, will have the supplement automatically refunded to them in the form of an onboard credit during their sailing. Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, and who are not yet paid in full, will have the supplement automatically removed from their outstanding balance.Carnival Cruise Line has eliminated its fuel surcharge effective for all voyages. For all bookings within the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit. For all bookings outside of the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be removed and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. Celebrity Cruises has suspended their fuel supplement for all sailings. Guests already booked on sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, will receive a refund of any fuel supplement paid, as follows: Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, and who are now paid in full, will have the supplement automatically refunded to them in the form of an onboard credit during their sailing. Costa Cruises has eliminated its fuel surcharge effective for all voyages. For all bookings within the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit. For all bookings outside of the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be removed and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. Cruise West will waive the fuel surcharge for guests who book any 2009 Alaska sailing and pay in full by January 30, 2009. In addition, the company will waive the fuel surcharge on all 2009 cruise itineraries for guests who pay in full by the final early booking discount date, which varies by date and cruise destination. Passengers that do not pay in full by the final early booking discount date will be assessed a fuel surcharge of $12 per person, per day. Crystal Cruises has eliminated its fuel surcharge for 2009 cruises. For existing bookings not yet paid in full, Crystal will adjust each booking, removing the fuel surcharge. Guests who have paid in full will receive a shipboard credit in the amount of the assessed fuel surcharge. This revised policy applies to all cruises departing after January 1, 2009. For all 2010 sailings, Crystal will not assess a fuel surcharge. Cunard Line has eliminated its fuel surcharge effective for all voyages. For all bookings within the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit. For all bookings outside of the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be removed and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. Disney Cruise Line has eliminated its fuel surcharge. Clients who have already booked a cruise will be refunded their supplement based on the following guidelines: If the closing price on the NYMEX (New York Mercantile Exchange) of West Texas Intermediate fuel is below $70 a barrel two weeks prior to the beginning of the calendar quarter, the company will refund fuel surcharges paid in the form of an onboard credit. The quarter that the cruise falls in will be based solely on the sailing date. The entire cruise will be considered to be part of the quarter that the sailing date originates in. Olsen Cruise Lines has eliminated the fuel surcharge on new bookings for all sailings. Existing bookings will receive a refund of the fuel surcharge paid in the form of an onboard credit. Holland America has eliminated its fuel surcharge for all voyages. For all bookings within the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit. For all bookings outside of the final payment period for departures, the fuel supplement will be removed and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. Hurtigruten will implement a fuel surcharge of $6.00 per day per person for all of the voyages. The surcharge is per person in single, double, triple, and quad cabins with a total maximum of $140 per cabin. MSC Cruises has eliminated the fuel surcharge for all 2009 sailings and beyond. All guests already booked on a 2009 voyage with a fuel supplement will receive a shipboard credit identical to that amount. Norwegian Cruise Line has eliminated its fuel surcharge effective for all voyages departing in 2009. NCL will refund the fuel supplement in the form of an on-board credit for all 2009 bookings within the final payment period. All existing 2009 bookings outside of the final payment period will be adjusted to remove the fuel supplement and NCL will revise the final payment amount. Oceania Cruises has eliminated its fuel surcharge for all new bookings. Oceania will refund the fuel supplement in the form of an on-board credit for all 2009 bookings within the final payment period. All existing 2009 bookings outside of the final payment period will be adjusted to remove the fuel supplement and Oceania will revise the final payment amount. Princess Cruises has eliminated its fuel surcharge. For all bookings within the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit. For all bookings outside of the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be removed and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. Regent Seven Seas has eliminated its fuel surcharge. Regent will refund the fuel supplement in the form of an on-board credit for all 2009 bookings within the final payment period. All existing 2009 bookings outside of the final payment period will be adjusted to remove the fuel supplement and Regent will revise the final payment amount. Royal Caribbean has suspended their fuel supplement for all sailings. Guests already booked on sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, will receive a refund of any fuel supplement paid, as follows: Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, and who are now paid in full, will have the supplement automatically refunded to them in the form of an onboard credit during their sailing. Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, and who are not yet paid in full, will have the supplement automatically removed from their outstanding balance. Seabourn Cruise Line has eliminated its fuel surcharge. For all bookings within the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be refunded in the form of a shipboard credit. For all bookings outside of the final payment period, the fuel supplement will be removed and guests will be provided with a revised final payment amount. Silversea will not charge a fuel surcharge on any 2009 or 2010 sailing. Star Clippers has suspended its fuel surcharge for new North and Latin America bookings on cruises that depart on or after January 1, 2009. Guests already booked on sailings that depart on or after January 1, 2009, will receive a refund of fuel supplements paid. Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, who are paid in full, will have the supplement refunded to them in the form of an onboard credit during their sailing. Guests with existing bookings for sailings that depart on or after January 1, who have not yet paid in full, will have the supplement deducted from their outstanding balance. Uniworld will not charge a fuel surcharge on any 2009 or 2010 sailing. Viking River Cruises will assess a fuel surcharge of $10 per person, per day, applicable to all passengers in a cabin, will be added for all 2009 sailings. Voyages of Discovery will no longer apply a fuel surcharge. Windstar has eliminated its fuel surcharge on all sailings departing after January 1, 2009. The fuel surcharge originally applied only to sailings through March 31, 2009. Windstar will automatically refund the fuel surcharge to guests in the form of a shipboard credit for those sailings departing between January 1 and March 31, 2009. Cruise lines not listed here have not yet announced their policy regarding fuel surcharges, but are expected to follow suit.
