Atlasov Island is a near-perfect volcanic cone, so aesthetically admired that the Japanese, who know it as Araido, have historically celebrated it in poetry and art in the same way they have Mount Fuji. It is the largest volcano in the Kuril Islands, and is surrounded by collateral craters from its many eruptions in the distant past.
