Bogoslof is part of the volcanic Aleutian Islands between eastern Russian and Alaska. The island is uninhabited by humans, but visitors will find plenty of wildlife including seabirds, seals, and sea lions. In 1909, Bogoslof was designated part of the Alaska Maritime National Wildlife Refuge by President Theodore Roosevelt. This Bogoslof Wilderness acts as a sanctuary for sea lions and nesting marine birds such as guillemots and gulls.
