Yantai is a major seaport and fishing port of the Shandong Province. Surrounded by mountains and facing the sea, the city offers picturesque scenery, a pleasant climate and nice beaches. At the top of Yuhuang Summit rising in the center of the city is the Jade Emperor Temple, built during the 13th and 14th centuries. The Penglai Pavilion houses more ancient architecture.
