Ride the tram to the top of the graceful, 630-foot Gateway Arch, which symbolizes St. Louis' historic role as the "Gateway to the West." North of the arch, the restored brick warehouses of Laclede's Landing house a variety of restaurants and clubs. For shopping in a unique setting, head to Union Station. Once the country's busiest train station, it is now a marketplace of stores and restaurants -- the Grand Hall is an impressive masterpiece of gilt work, stained glass and statuary.
