Malakula is the second largest island in Vanuatu and is covered with a mountainous and rugged terrain. It was once known as "The Cannibal Islands" because of the tribal cannibals and volcanic activity of the island when it was first discovered. These days the old cannibal sites are hidden in the bush of the island, and Malakula's coral reefs offer excellent snorkeling and diving.
