Shibaozhai Temple, China

The name Shibaozhai literally means “Stone Treasure Fortress” and this wooden pagoda along the Yangtze River stands 56 meters tall with 12 stories . Each floor of the Shibaozhai contains beautiful paintings and sculptures dedicated to either a famous general of the Three Kingdoms period (a.d. 220-265), a local scholar or a renowned Chinese poet. Though it usually takes about one hour to reach the top of Shibaozhai, the breathtaking view of the rivers and villages below makes the trek worthwhile.
