Zanzibar, Tanzania

Zanzibar is often called the spice island and is known for its clove plantations. It once was an Arab trading center, and Arab influence is still present in the architecture and customs. Popular excursions include visits to the spice shops, the notorious slave market, and to the ruins of Maruhubi Palace.
