The seaside town of Boulogne Sur Mer is as pretty as a Joseph Turner watercolor. The famous 18th-century painter was one of the many visitors who fell for the charms of France's biggest fishing port, once a Roman fort. The original fortress walls still define the town, as well as the famous Boulogne cathedral, a symbol of the French Revolution. Today Boulogne boasts a world-class sea life center, the Nausicaa, and many museums and monuments dedicated to the town's rich history.
