Cruise Line Fuel Surcharges

Due to escalating fuel prices, the following cruise lines have added a fuel surcharge. This charge is in addition to the cost of the cruise and any government taxes or fees. Bookings made before the effective date of a cruise line's surcharge are exempt.

Cunard will apply a fuel surcharge of $3.85 per person, per day (maximum $154 per person) to bookings made from May 10, 2010 to December 30, 2010 for all sailings. Bookings made from December 31, 2010 to February 27, 2011 will have a surcharge of $6.00 per person, per day (maximum $200 per person). Bookings made on or after February 28, 2011 will have a surcharge of $9.00 per person, per day (maximum $300 per person).

Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines will apply a fuel surcharge of $4 per person, per day (maximum $120 per person) to bookings made from May 5, 2010 to December 22, 2010 for all sailings. Bookings made from December 23, 2010 to January 18, 2011 will be subject to a fuel surcharge of $6.50 per person, per day (maximum $165 per person) for all sailings. Bookings made on or after January 19, 2011 for all sailings will be subject to a fuel surcharge amount that is 5.5% of the cruise fare.

Any sailing that departs on or after January 1, 2012 will be exempt from the fuel surcharge if booked prior to August 31, 2011. Fred. Olsen's 2012 World Cruises and World Cruise Segments are also exempt, regardless of booking date.

If the price for a barrel of Brent crude oil falls below £45 per barrel the month prior to departure, the fuel surcharges will be refunded to passengers' onboard accounts as a shipboard credit.

Hurtigruten will assess a fuel surcharge of $8 per person, per day to bookings made on or after April 1, 2011 for all sailings.

P&O Cruises will assess fuel surcharges based on booking date and departure date as shown below.

Bookings made from May 10, 2010 through December 30, 2010 will have a surcharge of £2.50 per person, per day (maximum £100 per person) for any cruise departing on or after November 1, 2010.

Bookings made from December 31, 2010 to February 27, 2011 will either have a surcharge of £2.50 per person, per day (maximum £100 per person) or a surcharge of £4.00 per person, per day (maximum £150 per person) depending on sailing dates that vary by ship. Bookings made on or after February 28, 2011 will either have a surcharge of £4.00 per person, per day (maximum £150 per person) or a surcharge of £6.00 per person, per day (maximum £200 per person) depending on sailing dates that vary by ship. Swan Hellenic will apply a fuel surcharge of $6 per person, per day (maximum $225 per person) to bookings made from February 1, 2011 onward for all cruises that depart on or after April 30, 2011. Sailings that depart prior to April 30, 2011 are exempt from the surcharge, as well as any sailing booked prior to February 1, 2011.

Voyages of Discovery will apply a fuel surcharge of $6 per person, per day (maximum $225 per person) to bookings made from February 1, 2011 onward for all cruises that depart on or after April 30, 2011. Sailings that depart prior to April 30, 2011 are exempt from the surcharge, as well as any sailing booked prior to February 1, 2011.
