Dear Vacations To Go Singles Customer,

On May 20, more than 200 Vacations To Go singles set sail on the Norwegian Epic from Barcelona to Naples, Rome, Florence, Cannes and Palma de Mallorca!

We learned a lot about each other during our icebreaker game, Can You Spare a Square. Leslie Lewis from Spring, TX, was on her 107th cruise! Marvin Wells from Washington, DC, and John Hosegrove from Burlington, ON, have almost a half-century of U.S. military and Canadian forces service between them, and we are very grateful for their service. Regina Fleps from Wheaton, IL, admitted that she is an "awful driver." Brenda Broussard from Houston, TX, has a daughter working at NASA. Patricia Edgecomb from Fruitland Park, FL, has one of the most unique hobbies -- she spins goat hair and also creates stained glass in her spare time. Many in our group shared the goal of visiting all 50 states, and Kathy Perucci from Norcross, GA, is well on her way, with 47 down! Dorina Lindsay from Naples, FL, is a traveling nurse who provides medical attention to underprivileged countries. Most recently she was in Belize.

Norwegian is well-known for its dance parties, and several of our singles made the video cut for the sail-away party. Jim Darch from Burlington, NJ, and Jane Jones from Spring, TX, went one better and won the dance contest on Day 2 of our cruise.

In Naples, Italy, everyone enjoyed views of the Amalfi Coast and tasted authentic limoncello, the lemon liqueur that's made in the region. We had just over 80 singles on our famous Joe Banana tour, which stopped in Sorrento, Positano and Pompeii. While in Sorrento, many of our singles took in the cliff view -- which they had seen in pictures but could now gaze upon in person. Our guide, Paolo, made sure everyone got to enjoy the view!
While in Positano, we enjoyed a meal cooked by "Mama" that included farm-fresh vegetables, homemade pasta and a sea cliff vista. A private singer and guitar player really made us feel a part of the local culture. From there we drove to the famous Pompeii excavation and saw every part of the archaeological site, including buildings, pottery and original mosaics and paintings.

In Rome, almost 100 singles joined our private excursion! Filling two buses, each group took turns visiting the Vatican and its Sistine Chapel, as well as Trevi Fountain and the Colosseum. A few of our singles had the opportunity to hear and see the Pope speak, as he does every Wednesday. After arriving at the Trevi Fountain, our singles enjoyed true Italian pizza. You could taste the fresh, homemade cheese and crust! Our singles battled the rain to see the Colosseum, which holds its own in pictures but is even more grand in person. Did you know that 36 trapdoors in the arena were used to present special effects?

In Pisa, the Leaning Tower is always a sight as people crowd the railings to take pictures as if they are holding it up -- or pushing it over.
In Florence, we drove past the bridge called Ponte Vecchio; it is known for its shops but originally was built as a system of defense. We also had the opportunity to eat local Italian fare. The lasagna and salad was amazing! There is something to be said about locally grown ingredients going into freshly made dishes -- very little is needed to bring out the flavor. After lunch, we headed to the Accademia Gallery to view the statue of David. Of course, we saw many other paintings and carvings, but none could compare to Michelangelo's famous sculpture.

While in Cannes, many singles took the opportunity to visit Nice, Monaco or Monte Carlo. Several rode the Petit Train de Cannes, which takes you around the town and tells of Cannes' history and attractions.

After a day of fun, we chose to "Party With the Gods" and dressed in Roman and Greek attire. While several of our singles kept it simple by repurposing their bedsheets as togas, some -- like Lorelee Anderson from Bend, OR -- went all out with their creativity.

Before our singles disembarked the ship to see Palma de Mallorca, we held our famous Battle of the Sexes competition. In addition to answering questions, we played charades and wrapped up a few mummies. The men won by being the first to answer this: What is the top speed of a cheetah? For those who do not know, the answer is 70 mph!

Before we knew it, it was almost time to say goodbye. We celebrated our Mediterranean odyssey with our well-known farewell karaoke party. Many came to sing, others came to dance. All enjoyed the last night of our cruise talking with new friends about the memories they had made.

Port Profile -- Harvest Caye

Cabo is located at the southernmost point of Mexico's Baja California Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez. El Arco, "the arch" -- also known as Land's End -- is one of the first things you will notice when your cruise ship anchors in Cabo. This iconic landmark was carved out of rock by the slamming surf and stands more than three stories tall.

While taking a tender boat into the marina, you will notice an abundance of fishing charters heading out to sea. Sportfishing is very popular due to the abundance of large species of fish, like dorado, tuna and wahoo -- and don't miss your opportunity to catch a striped marlin! Ashore, you can browse the plentiful shops scattered throughout the marina, sip a local beer from Baja Brewing Co. or enjoy some time on the pristine beaches.

Cabo San Lucas truly is a great place to visit and is the most popular destination on a Mexican Riviera itinerary. To see a cruise that travels to Cabo San Lucas, click here.
