This exquisite island, with its 20 miles of fine sandy beaches and small pine forests dotting the landscape, is rich in both history and natural beauty. At Dapia Square in the island capital of Spetses, you can still see the cannons used in the Greek War of Independence in 1821. Visit the cave of Bekiri, where many revolutionaries took refuge. Take in the white two-storied mansions with their red tiled roofs near the port, or visit the archaeological sites of Argos and Sparti, which are an easy distance away.
