The Sundarbans Reserve is the world's largest mangrove forest. In 1987, it was named a UNESCO world heritage site, and it was added to the World Network of Biosphere Reserves in 2001. This forest is one of the world's largest reserves for the Bengal tiger and holds the single largest population of tigers in the world. The ecosystem is considered to be exceptional due to its large variety of flora and fauna. There are several endangered species that live within the Sundarbans, including the royal Bengal tiger, saltwater crocodile, river terrapin, olive ridley turtle, Ganges River dophil, hawksbill turtle and mangrove horseshoe crab. Visitors can enjoy the scenery in the mudflats, which are dotted with plenty of unique fauna and flora.
