Norwegian Cruise Line has completed a $150 million transformation of Great Stirrup Cay, their private island in the Bahamas. A brand-new pier now allows ships to dock directly at the island instead of relying on tenders, leading to a Welcome Plaza and island-wide tram system connecting to all the exciting attractions.

Great Tides Waterpark celebrated its grand opening, revealing 19 exhilarating waterslides, including 11 main attractions and eight kid-friendly slides. Spanning nearly six acres, the park is divided into four distinct zones: Tidal Tower, Cliffside Cove, Wandering River and Splash Cay. Experience next-level adventure with 10- to 15-foot cliff jumps, get your adrenaline pumping with a race down The Great Slide, and brave the drops and uphill blasts of Breakwater Blasters. Or unwind as you float along the 828-foot Wandering River, complete with a swim-up bar and an immersive multimedia tunnel. Kids can explore the vibrant family zone and there are private cabanas for rent that can accommodate up to six guests.

Other new highlights include Great Life Lagoon, featuring a 28,000 square foot pool with beach-style entry, two swim-up bars and plenty of room to unwind while enjoying ocean views. Nearby, Splash Harbor is designed with kids in mind, offering more than 3,000 square feet of splash pad, water toys and multiple loungers. Vibe Shore Club provides an adults only retreat complete with an exclusive restaurant and bar, sleek daybeds and private cabanas. Guests will also find a variety of new food options throughout the island, including complimentary buffets and a la carte food trucks.

I'm excited to tell you about a concept that is becoming increasingly popular in the cruise industry -- Ship-Within-A-Ship -- that offers the intimate ambiance, luxurious amenities and personalized service of a small cruise ship or yacht within a large vessel.

Guests booked into these elite staterooms typically have keycard entry to designated areas, venues and accommodations aboard the ship. These often include private access to exclusive restaurants, lounges and a sundeck with a pool and hot tub, along with upgraded accommodations featuring luxury bath products and fine linens. Additional amenities often include concierge services, a dedicated butler, as well as priority check-in, boarding and disembarkation.

Below, I've highlighted some popular Ship-Within-A-Ship concepts offered by several cruise lines. We recommend calling us to verify prices and availability, as these accommodations are only available in select categories and are highly sought after.

Sanctuary Collection by Princess Cruises offers an elevated experience for guests booked into Sanctuary accommodations (suite, mini-suite and balcony) aboard the Sun Princess and Star Princess. These staterooms include access to the Sanctuary Club -- a top-deck adults-only poolside retreat -- and a private restaurant, as well as Princess Premier, an all-inclusive package with premium beverages, specialty and casual dining, gratuities, internet access and more. Guests staying in a Sanctuary Suite also enjoy exclusive access to the Suite Lounge. To view sailings with staterooms in the Sanctuary Collection, click here.

The Haven by Norwegian is a top-of-the-ship enclave featuring luxurious accommodations and a private courtyard with sundeck, pool, hot tub and cabanas. Guests booked in The Haven accommodations enjoy access to an exclusive lounge and restaurant on select ships. Other highlights include 24-hour butler service, in-suite dining, a dedicated concierge and personally escorted priority embarkation and disembarkation. Yacht Club by MSC Cruises is an exclusive private oasis, featuring deluxe suites, a dedicated restaurant, lounge, pools and a sundeck. The Yacht Club boasts unparalleled service, including a concierge team, 24-hour butler service, and priority embarkation and disembarkation. Passengers enjoy an all-inclusive package with premium beverages, internet access and complimentary entry to the Thermal Suite. To view sailings with staterooms in the Yacht Club, click here.

The Retreat by Celebrity Cruises is designed for guests booked into select suites and features exclusive access to a private restaurant, lounge and sundeck with a pool and hot tub on select ships. Guests can expect top-tier hospitality with a dedicated butler, a concierge team and suite-to-car escort on Private Journeys. The Retreat also includes perks such as premium drinks and internet access for certain suite categories. To view sailings with staterooms in The Retreat, click here.

The Queens Grill and Princess Grill by Cunard are exclusive to guests booked in elegant Grill Suite accommodations, featuring access to private restaurants, complimentary in-suite dining and the signature Afternoon Tea service. Passengers experience world-class service, luxurious amenities and priority disembarkation. The Queens Grill is the most elite of the two, offering additional benefits including butler service, a dedicated concierge and access to the Grill Suites Lounge. To view sailings with staterooms in the Grill Suites, click here.

Additional cruise lines also offer variations of the Ship-Within-A-Ship concept. While amenities may differ, guests can still enjoy elevated service and exclusive access to venues. A few examples are Holland America's Pinnacle & Neptune Suites, Royal Caribbean's Suite Class, Disney Cruise Line's Concierge cabins and Carnival's Havana cabins.
