Baa Atoll is made up of two sub-atolls that are separated by the Kudarikilu Kandu channel. With approximately 105 reefs around the atoll, it is home to one of the largest groups of coral reef in the Indian Ocean. They provide good vegetation and various sandy cays where they surface, and support a rich biodiversity that is protected by the Biosphere Reserve. Travelers will find large mangroves and a variety of other unique fauna in Baa Atoll, as well as various sea bird species like the great frigate bird, turtle species like the hawksbill, and marine life such as the manta ray.
