Banda Aceh, located on the island of Sumatra, is the capital of the Aceh province. Travelers to the city will find many landmarks that are important to the history of the area during their visit. The most famous of these landmarks is the Baiturrahman Grand Mosque, found in the center of Banda Aceh. Many of the landmarks are reminders and memorials of the 2004 earthquake and tsunami, and the recovery that took place after. Outside of these landmarks and royal heritage sites, Banda Aceh is also known for its keudè kupi, or coffee shop. Here they brew two special kinds of coffee, Ulèë Karéng and Beurawé coffee.
