Bronnoysund is the administrative center of Nordland County's Bronnoy Municipality on the western coast of central Norway. A small community with a tumultuous history, Bronnoysund as it is known today received its town status in 2000. Besides being a hub for fishing and transport, this lively port town also has a marina and culinary scene popular with visitors. Must-sees include the Lokalmatbutikken, a grocery, deli and cafe combo that specializes in locally produced items like cheese and craft beer. Another notable site is the Bronnoy Church, built in the neo-Gothic style in 1870, with parts of the building's entrance and choir wall dating to the Middle Ages. A short drive or bike ride away is Torghatten, a distinctive mountain formation famous for having a hole that runs clear through its midsection.
