The capitol city of Australia is a masterpiece of urban planning and the home of many of Australia's cultural institutions. Located inland near the picturesque Brindabella Ranges, the city of Canberra is divided in two by Lake Burley Griffin, an artificial lake named after the city's American designer. Canberra is home to numerous popular music and theater venues, as well as the National Gallery, the National Library, and the Australian War Memorial. Travel within this easily navigable city is a pleasure, with its many gardens, parks, and natural vantage points from which to view the city.
