Hamada is an old city that is deeply entrenched in Japanese history. At the top of a hill near the center of the town lies the ruin of the nearly four hundred year old Hamada Castle. Regular tours of the castle are available. For those looking to attend events, there’s a cultural festival nearly every month in this city. The biggest festival, the Hamakko Summer Festival, is in August. There is also a Museum of Children’s Art for those wishing to enjoy the more artistic side of Hamada, and Aquas, one of the largest aquariums in Japan.
