Hendaye is a commune in the southwestern region of France. It has three distinguishable parts: the town, the beach and the heights. In the town square, there is a stone cross carved with alchemical symbols which dates back to the seventeenth century. The ruins of the early seventeenth century fortifications are also still visible on the promenade along the Bay of Txingudi waterfront. The Jumeaux rocks are emblematic to Hendaye and are visible from the beach. One of the biggest attractions to the city is the church of Saint Vincent, which was built in 1598 and has been reconstructed over the centuries.
