Hvalsey is a remote archaeological site in southern Greenland, known for containing the best-preserved Norse ruins in the country. It lies in the Eastern Settlement area near modern Qaqortoq and features the remains of a 14th-century stone church and surrounding farm structures built by Norse settlers. The site is historically significant because it was the location of the last known written record of the Norse in Greenland-a wedding held in 1408. Today, Hvalsey is uninhabited and accessible mainly by boat, offering a striking combination of Arctic scenery and medieval history.
