Isla Saona, Dominican Republic

Located on the southeastern side of the Dominican Republic, Isla Saona is a palm tree paradise. The beaches are surrounded by coral reefs nestled in the shallow waters. Divers will have the chance to swim with manatees and dolphins, and admire a seafloor covered with starfish. A short trip to Flamingo Lagoon brings visitors close to Mano Juan, a relaxed fishing village that is also home to a turtle sanctuary. The central area of the island is known as Parque Nacional del Este, or East National Park. It is home to hundreds of species of flowers as well as various birds, and offers foot and bicycle trails that pass through to the beaches.
