La Ciotat is located around 15 miles to the east of Marseille. It is well known for being the setting of the first movie, published in 1895. The theater in which it was shown, Eden Theater, is still showing contemporary films. There are plenty of nature routes available to take in impressive views. The city is also scattered with old chapels dating as far back as the 15th century.
