Motobu sits on the northern part of Okinawa Island. The most popular attraction is the Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium. It was the largest aquarium in the world until 2005, and over 20 million people have visited. The building is made up of four floors which contain tons of marine life, including sharks, 80 species of coral and many tropical fish. This is one of the few places in the world in which you can see whale sharks in captivity. The city also holds the Omoro Botanical Garden and the Tropical and Subtropical Arboretum.
