Piran is a coastal town in Solvenia with a very Italian feel. From the 13th to 18th centuries, Piran was part of the Venetian empire and so its architecture more closely resembles a coastal town in Italy than its neighboring Slovenian cities. Guests will find most restaurants along the waterfront, and small shop that sells handmade crafts in place of the usual souvenir shops. The Venetian House is a representation of Gothic Venetian architecture, and is the oldest building in the town square. Other things to see in Piran include Sergej Masera Maritime Museum and the Church of St. George. Travelers can watch the sunset from the waterfront, swim from one of the many piers, take a dive and explore the Adriatic Sea, or climb up the city walls for a great view of the entire peninsula.
