Point Hope is one of the longest continually inhabited areas in North America. It is home to the Tikigagmuit and provides visitors many opportunities to see Bowhead whales during certain times of the year. Along with many other traditions, whales are an important aspect of the local Inupiat culture of Point Hope. Accessible only by sea or air, the village is considered modern by rural living standards with infrastructure, running water, and electricity.
