Poivre, part of the Amirantes Island Group, is found southwest of Mahe. This popular deep sea fishing destination is an atoll made up of two islands, Poivre and Ile du Sud, separated by a semi-lagoon. Nature enthusiasts will find various types of sea birds such as the blue heron, greater frigate bird, whimbrels, and fairy terns. The island is also a nesting site for green and hawksbill turtles.
