One of Victoria's best-kept secrets, Portland is a town full of history and stunning sights. At nearby Budj Bim National Heritage Landscape stand the only remaining permanent houses built by an indigenous community in Australia. The Portland Maritime Discovery Centre offers a look at the seafaring history of the town, plus the chance to step inside a sperm whale skeleton. Southern right and blue whales regularly pass by the shore thanks to its natural deepwater harbor.
