São Vicente is Cape Verde's premier cultural destination and home to the vibrant capital city of Mindelo. Because most ships dock at the Mindelo Marina right at the edge of town, it is one of the easiest ports to explore on foot. As the birthplace of Morna, which is a soulful style of music recognized as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage, the city's heart beats in its lively plazas and at the Cesaria Evora Museum.
