Thanks to its Mediterranean climate and prime placement along the Italian Riviera, San Remo is a popular destination for many travelers. It is the host of Italy’s most popular music festival (simply called The Festival by most Italians), which has marked the beginning of many of Italy’s most famous recording artists’ careers. In addition to its plentiful social events, San Remo also has attractions for sightseers. Bussana Vecchia, for example, is an artists’ town built from the ruins of a village destroyed by an earthquake almost two hundred years ago.
