Skopelos is one of several islands which comprise the Northern Sporades island group and the capital of the archipelago. The town is considered by many to be one of the prettiest harbor side towns in the Greek islands -- the houses are built in tiers ascending the hillside and the port is lined with mulberry and plane trees. Several sites on the island such as the church of Agios Ioannis Kastri and Kastani Beach were filiming sites in the movie "Mamma Mia."
