Situated roughly in the northern center of Honshu, Toyama shares its border with Niigata and Nagano in the east, Gifu in the south, and Ishikawa in the west. Built in the Edo period the Toyama Castle contains the Museum of Local History. The Sato Memorial Art Museum is a short stroll from the Toyama Castle which exhibits ceramics and antiques. Visit the Toyama Folkcraft Village which features arts and crafts from the local community or visit the Chokeji Temple which is known for its 500 statues.
