Ulsan is home to the Tongdosa Temple, a major holy site in Korean Buddhism. It is the largest such temple in Korea and is noteworthy for containing no actual statues of Buddha, despite many other artifacts and displays representing the divine. Other sites worth visiting are the Nakdong Estuary and Eulsukdo Migratory Bird Park. Among the many species for birders to find are the rare White-naped Crane and Black-faced Spoonbill.
