The small isle of Vis is a great place to find an authentic Mediterranean atmosphere. The city mostly avoided modern development throughout history as it was a military base up until the late 1980s. Vis is a traditional village where wine and fishing come together with quaint cafes and expansive vineyards. The history of the city is evident in the existing architecture that is known to have a Venetian flair due to its close proximity to Venice. There is much to be explored in this secluded city from pebbled beaches, to hidden coves, and the blue water of the Adriatic Sea.
